MTB Tire Guide

Tire Pressure Calculator

The calculator computes front and rear tire pressure ranges from rider weight, tire width, rim inner width, terrain, tubeless setup and extra e-bike weight.

A practical starting range for your setup. Fine-tune within it in 0.5 psi steps by feel.

System weight: 94 kg — The tire carries rider and bike together.

Front wheel

Common widths – 30 mm is the most widely used today.

Rear wheel

The rear wheel uses the front wheel settings.

Front recommendation

22.8–24.8 psi (1.57–1.71 bar)

Wheel load approx. 42.3 kg

Rear recommendation

27.6–29.6 psi (1.90–2.04 bar)

Same setup as front

Wheel load approx. 51.7 kg

Rolling resistance by tire pressure

Model / estimate – the curve shape is physically plausible but not lab-measured.

How rolling resistance changes as you vary the pressure. On rough ground it rises again when pressure is too high.

What drives this range

  • Wheel load approx. 42.3 kg front and 51.7 kg rear – that is where the difference between both ranges comes from.
  • 62 mm tire width: more volume carries the load at lower pressure.
  • 29 inches lowers the recommended range slightly because volume and contact patch are larger.

Note: These ranges are guidance and do not replace the tire and rim manufacturer's specifications. Never exceed the maximum allowed pressure.
