How we calculate

Width, casing and compound decide how a tire really rides. We only show what was actually measured – and label estimates honestly.

Reference: documented test pressure of the source (24.7 psi (1.70 bar)).

More pressure: less rolling resistance, less grip, less comfort. Tougher casing: more protection, more weight. Softer compound: more grip, more rolling resistance.

Modelled values are assumptions based on the stated measurement points – not a lab test.

Automatic assessment

Tested: Calculated from the stored measurements – compared only within the same test series and category (Enduro).

  • Rolling resistance

    Mid-field

    39.8 W · rank 14 of 31 comparable Enduro tires

12.4 W behind the best value in the same test series. Fewer watts is better – every watt saved stays in the drivetrain.

  • Impact protection

    Strong in comparison

    56.6 % · rank 6 of 33 comparable Enduro tires

28.9 % behind the best value in the same test series. A higher percentage is better – the tire cushions hard edges for longer.

  • Weighed weight

    Mid-field

    1,202 g · rank 11 of 31 comparable Enduro tires

220 g behind the best value in the same test series. Fewer grams is better, but usually costs casing stability.

Notable: below-average rolling resistance together with above-average impact protection – this tire breaks the usual trade-off.

Magazine ride tests

BIKE Magazin

December 2020

The Kenda Pinner Pro ATC, Aaron Gwin's signature tire, was extensively ridden on various cornering trails. The large knobs deliver plenty of grip on firm, dry ground, while weight stays reasonable thanks to the light ATC compound. The tire also proves practical for longer tours.

July 2020

The Kenda Pinner Pro, co-developed with Aaron Gwin, was initially tested in its downhill version. The tire shows very predictable handling with strong grip on hard, dry ground. It specifically targets riders who race on fast, grippy tracks.
